Big Great Western Divide linkup and plans
Nathan and Travis just completed another huge day: a 5 peak linkup of the north end of the Great Western Divide: North Guard, Mount Brewer, South Guard, Thunder Mountain, and Table Mountain (summitting in the dark at around 9:40pm).
Based on their inReach data, we guess this was a roughly 18 mile, 11,000 vertical foot, 18 hour epic, ending around 1:30am. This is their 8th consecutive day on the move averaging nearly 7,000 vertical feet per day, including 6000' yesterday with full multiday packs.
There's no let up in their plans for the next two days:
- Midway Mountain, Milestone Mountain, Kern Point, and Picket Guard Peak.
They have the option of skipping the last two if they want to approach them from their upcoming Mineral King trip at the end of the month.Edit: they climbed all four peaks. Whaleback, Triple Divide Peak, and Glacier Ridge.Edit: Looks like they climbed Whaleback and Glacier Ridge, leaving Triple Divide Peak for a future combination with Lion Rock.
It's unclear if they'll hike out immediately after their last linkup or if they'll sleep first. We'll see soon enough…
