Another epic deep in the Sierra
After a "rest day" of climbing Whaleback and Glacier Ridge (leaving Triple Divide Peak for an upcoming trip out of Mineral King), Nathan and Travis put together another huge effort: Midway Mountain, Milestone Mountain, Kern Point, and Picket Guard Peak. They covered 20+ miles with about 13,000' vertical over 18 hours, arriving back after 1:00am. We'll have to wait for their data when they return, but it's possible this is the most vertical they've yet done in a day. This was their 10th consecutive day without rest.
While there are a few other candidates for the most remote peak on the list, Picket Guard Peak and Kern Point are right up there.
They should be hiking out tomorrow and making their way toward Mineral King. They'll finally have a rest before the planned road opening on May 25th. Hopefully, they'll be able to get on wifi and send us pictures from the last several trips.
